Native English-Speaking Governess / English Educator

Location: Belgrade, Serbia
Dates: 1 August – 15 September 2026
Position: Temporary, Live-in Preferred

A family based in Belgrade is seeking an experienced native English-speaking governess/educator for a six-week placement to provide intensive English language immersion for their 12-year-old son.

The primary objective is to significantly accelerate his English language development through structured lessons and natural daily interaction, helping him progress towards near-native fluency in spoken and written English. The role is educational rather than childcare-focused.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, structured daily English lessons tailored to the child's current level and learning style.
• Create a full English immersion environment throughout the day, encouraging natural conversation and correct pronunciation.
• Develop vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, writing and listening skills.
• Improve confidence, fluency and accuracy in spoken English.
• Introduce age-appropriate literature, articles, games and educational activities to make learning enjoyable.
• Support school-related English where appropriate while focusing primarily on long-term language development.
• Plan educational outings and activities that provide opportunities to practise English in real-life situations.
• Monitor progress and adapt lesson plans accordingly.
• Provide regular feedback to the parents on achievements and areas for further development.
• Act as a positive role model, encouraging curiosity, confidence and independent learning.

The family's older daughter does not require educational support and will not be part of the teaching programme.

Candidate Requirements

• Native English speaker (essential).
• Qualified teacher, governess or English language educator.
• Previous experience teaching English as a first or additional language to children of a similar age.
• Experience preparing individual learning programmes and delivering one-to-one tuition.
• Warm, engaging and energetic personality with the ability to motivate pre-teens.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Professional, discreet and flexible approach.
• Previous experience working with private families is highly desirable.
