Rota Nanny – 2 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off
Location: Vienna, Austria
Live-in during working weeks | Long-term position | Excellent package
An experienced, loving and proactive rota nanny is sought for a warm, welcoming family in Vienna to care primarily for their happy 7-month-old baby, with occasional care for a delightful 3-year-old stepbrother who visits one week every six weeks.
This is an exceptional long-term opportunity for a professional nanny with excellent infant experience who genuinely enjoys supporting children's development through play, movement, routine and exploration. The family follows a gentle, child-led approach inspired by Montessori principles and is looking for someone who becomes a valued part of their home.
The ideal nanny will be naturally affectionate with children while also confident in maintaining routines and boundaries. You will be proactive, able to anticipate the baby's needs without constant direction, and experienced enough to confidently take sole charge when required. The family values someone who is warm, organised, discreet, hygienic, and happy to share family mealtimes and engage in conversation with relatives and guests.
Responsibilities:
• Sole charge care of a 7-month-old baby
• Occasional care for a 3-year-old stepbrother
• Plan engaging, Montessori-inspired activities
• Support developmental milestones through play, movement, swimming and outdoor activities
• Prepare healthy meals and snacks
• Maintain consistent routines and sleep schedules
• Nursery duties including children's laundry, organising clothes and toys, and keeping play areas tidy
• Travel with the family approximately 8–10 weeks per year
• Work closely with the second rota nanny to ensure smooth handovers
During your working weeks, you will sleep in the baby's room until the child turns one to assist with nighttime settling. Thereafter, you will have your own private bedroom. The baby generally sleeps well. Daily rest breaks of approximately four hours are provided.
Candidate requirements:
• Minimum 5 years' professional nanny experience
• Extensive experience caring for babies
• Previous rota or live-in experience preferred
• Montessori knowledge or willingness to embrace the approach
• Warm, nurturing and emotionally mature
• Proactive, organised and able to work independently
• Confident swimmer and safe driver
• EU work eligibility
• Fluent English (German, French or Italian is an advantage)
• Comfortable around the family's small friendly dog
Schedule:
• Standard rota: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
• Occasionally 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off during extended family travel
Salary & Benefits:
• €300 per day (self-employed - preferred), or
• €3,500 gross per month on an Austrian employment contract (15 salaries per year – equivalent to €52,500 gross annually)
• Private accommodation during working weeks
• Flights home during off weeks covered by the family
• All travel expenses paid
• Supportive, respectful family environment
• Long-term stability with opportunities for professional development
